Linux Administration
Managing production servers, users, permissions, services, boot process and performance tuning.
Logging & Monitoring
Building centralized logging solutions, log rotation, and basic monitoring using scripts and tools.
Automation & Scripting
Automating backups, log cleanup, health checks and routine maintenance tasks.
Networking & Security
Network diagnostics and firewall management for secure server access and troubleshooting.
Cloud & Storage
Using cloud services for offsite backups and log archiving, with a focus on AWS.
Soft Skills
Strong troubleshooting mindset, documentation habit and a passion for teaching Linux concepts.
Centralized Log Management (Rsyslog + Logrotate + AWS S3)
Designed a central log server to collect logs from multiple Linux nodes. Implemented rotation, compression and archival policies, and synced rotated logs to S3 for long-term retention.
Backup Automation for Critical Directories & DB Dumps
Wrote scripts to back up web content, configuration files and database dumps with timestamped archives. Automated schedule using cron and implemented cleanup for old backups.
Log Analysis Toolkit for Incident Troubleshooting
Built a collection of shell one-liners and scripts to quickly filter and highlight errors from system and application logs, improving MTTR during server and application incidents.
Server Health & Resource Monitoring Scripts
Created scripts to monitor CPU, RAM, disk usage and service status. Generated summary reports and simple alerts when thresholds were exceeded.
Firewall Hardening (firewalld vs iptables)
Configured firewall rules using both firewalld and iptables, documented differences and best practices, and hardened SSH access to reduce attack surface.
- Managed Linux servers for internal and client-facing applications.
- Handled user, group, permission, service and package management on a daily basis.
- Configured and maintained centralized logging using Rsyslog and Logrotate.
- Investigated production issues (service down, high CPU/RAM, disk full) and restored services.
- Developed scripts for backups, health checks and log cleanup, scheduled using cron.
- Collaborated with developers to troubleshoot application-level problems on Linux servers.
- Used AWS S3 for storing backups and long-term log archives.
